Accounting Manager

Our client is a family owned supermarket chain with over 30 years of experience, specializing in a wide variety of international grocery brands at unbeatable prices!

This client is looking to grow their accounting leadership team and we are actively interviewing for an Accounting Manager job opening.  In this role, you will be responsible for supervising AP and AR teams and ensuring the accurate and timely recording of company revenues and liabilities. Under the direction of the VP of Finance, the Accounting Manager will manage the weekly recording of sales, accounts payable and accounts receivable. You will be based in downtown LA at their corporate headquarters.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of AP and AR teams. Manage weekly check run and AR collections.
  • Manage timely and accurately closing of general ledger
  • Manage, train and mentor accounting staff in performance of day-to-day accounting functions
  • Collaborate with the other teams within the organization to support overall department and companywide goals and objectives
  • Ensure that Accounting Department projects are assigned appropriate resources and completed in a timely manner
  • Manage or assist in the installation and maintenance of new functions, ledgers or sub-ledgers in the accounting system
  • Process annual 1099s
  • Attend and guide weekly AR Ageing review meetings with purchasing team
  • Perform other job duties as requested or required by Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in retail or a supermarket environment
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • High level of integrity
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Broad financial and business acumen
