JOB OVERVIEW:

This person will lead the company’s SEC reporting and Technical Accounting function and works cross-functionally across the company. The successful candidate also plans and helps drive the quarterly drafting and review cycle including the quarterly meetings with leaders of the business functions. The role is a key member of the Finance organization and will collaborate with department leaders on the SEC reporting processes and regulate the flow of information and supporting documentation required for accurate and timely reporting of required filings and disclosures and understand the company’s products, services and the required regulatory reporting requirements and disclosures.  This role will report to the Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform technical accounting research, managing external resources as needed, and prepare technical memorandums that document issues and conclusions in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner
  • Recommend, implement, maintain, and communicate accounting policies, practices and procedures to improve and ensure financial control and integrity of the Company’s financial statements
  • Lead external SEC financial reporting process, including:
    • Creating and maintaining SEC calendar
    • Preparing and publishing 10-Q and 10-K filings
    • Completing GAAP checklists and ensuring financial statements are presented in accordance with GAAP guidelines
    • Appropriate XBRL tagging
    • Managing internal and external review of all documents
  • Prepare quarterly earnings release tables and assist in preparation and review of texts and scripts for earnings releases
  • Help drive SOX implementation efforts working closely with SOX consultants. Assist in promoting a culture of awareness and adherence to internal controls within the company as a whole
  • Manage the equity accounting function, including stock-based compensation, EPS and equity account reconciliation, in connection with the company’s equity incentive plan
  • Manage tax returns and tax provision with external tax advisors
  • Maintain relationship and work closely with external auditors
  • Manage and complete special projects as necessary

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics
  • 15+ years of relevant experience (biotech industry preferred)
  • CPA required
  • S1 filing experience highly desirable
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • Outstanding working knowledge of systems, processes, internal controls, US GAAP, PCAOB and SEC regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communicator with the ability to effectively present to and engage with a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • Energetic, hands-on, resilient leader who can partner with all levels and functions of the company and takes a consultative and collaborative approach
