Position Summary:
The HR Generalist position will provide Human Resources support for all their stores. Working with the Human Resources Director, the HR Generalist may be assigned a wide range of human resources functional responsibilities to include staffing, performance management, coaching, and facilitating employee communications, training and development, legal compliance, employee relations, compensation and wage and salary administration.
Responsibilities:
Perform recruitment of exempt and nonexempt personnel in a timely, cost-effective and effective manner; write and place recruitment notices in a variety of media, administer the new-employee orientation process; employee relations counseling, and exit interviewing.
- Administer classification plans and programs, coordinates preparation of job descriptions, and oversees job evaluations.
- Provide advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy, and employment laws.
- Administer unemployment insurance processes; reviews liability reports and monitors program costs; and recommends policy changes to the Director of Human Resources
- Establish and maintain department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as required. Maintains company organization charts.
- Help design a comprehensive benefits package to meet the needs of a changing workforce
- Maintain benefits data and records to ensure that all eligibility/privacy requirements are met within all benefit plans
- Constantly keeping informed about Federal and State guidelines, and updating policies to reflect the guidelines
- Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of departmental activities in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
- Evaluate, analyze, and maintain the Human Resources Information System as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints, counseling managers and employees on the interpretation of policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of the principles and practices human resources management and supervision, preferably in a retail grocery store environment
- Ability to prepare high quality written reports, correspondence and presentations to senior leadership as required
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
- Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both English and Spanish
- Proven positive and successful leadership skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of HR Generalist experience or equivalent
- HR certification is a plus
- Bi-lingual English and Spanish with excellent written and verbal skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business Management or related fields is preferred
