Our client is an exceptional start-up company located in Hayward, California. Their mission is to develop effective cellular therapies for patients with chronic diseases. They are in the process of developing exciting technology structured to convert cellular therapy from a hospital-based treatment to outpatient therapy.
We are seeking an accomplished and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to design, oversee and maintain the infrastructure systems. This qualified candidate must have working knowledge of newer technologies including AWS, Azure, VMware Horizon/vCenter and Linux OS, DevOps.
This is a Remote/Hybrid position which requires working at the Hayward location on occasion or when needed. Our client offers a competitive base salary and an exciting career track.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preside over VMware Horizon/vCenter, AWS, Linux, Azure and Microsoft Windows environment
- Oversee Juniper network switches and Palo Alto firewall/VPN
- Manage and maintain server hardware
- Develop and manage efficient infrastructure systems with scripts and system tools
- Complete scheduled patch management, maintenance, and audits of our systems
- Configure SSO integrations with SaaS
- Be the tier III escalation point for end user support team
- Be a part of PagerDuty on-call rotation schedule
- Publish technical documentation on process and procedures for our systems
- Facilitate in the automation of IT Infrastructure software/hardware
- Oversee projects and OKRs related to IT infrastructure
- Work closely with various teams to further automate our infrastructure and lab systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ degree in related field or equivalent years of experience
- Strong working knowledge in the latest technologies including AWS, Azure, VMware Horizon/vCenter, Linux OS, DevOps, Configuration Management tools and scripting languages
- Over five years’ experience as a Senior Systems Engineer or similar role
- Possess strong scripting and debugging skills in Python and either Powershell or Bash
- Skilled in managing and maintaining Linux OS, VMware Horizon/vCenter, Azure/Windows Server environment and Docker
- Background working with either Chef, Puppet or Ansible configuration management tools
- Highly skilled in DevOps
- Background configuring and maintaining Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases
- Proficient using Atlassian JIRA or similar tools to handle infrastructure tickets/issues
- Background providing tier 3 support to end user support team
- Solid understanding of networking protocols TCP/IP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN and OSPF/EIGRP routing protocols
- Familiarity securing infrastructure systems through systems hardening
- Knowledge working with integrating systems with Mac computers (and sometimes Windows)
- Security or engineering experience is desired
- A plus, experience in designing, building, and configuring firewalls and L3 switches
